Drumming in the Voodoo Rooms | Edinburgh

So I had my first gig in the Voodoo rooms in Edinburgh last night as part of a showcase for the Blues Club. It was set up as a funk and blues night and featured some top local players.

The venue is situated just of Princess Street and has an understated front door but as you enter you know you are in the right place for music, queue the star studded stair case entrance.

The stage is fantastic and has a professional installation which sounds amazing. The in-house engineer was great and was happy to help when setting up the drum kit.

I was playing with the Bourbon Street Band which consists of Drums, Bass , Guitar, Keys and Voice. Originally they were a blues band but have ventured into some funk material including music by the Meters and Tower of Power which has lifted the energy of the band and hope to do some recordings of original material this year.

The set consisted of four songs, two original tracks and two covers, I think this was a good mix and pleased the crowd. We were tight and funky and just about everyone in the place complimented us on!

Hopefully we will be invited back soon.

Enjoy this short clip and please like, subscribe and share, thanks for reading.
